Near North Montessori has had a remarkable 56-year history. We have experienced tremendous growth in our programs and services, and offer an educational experience that creates curious, motivated, and accomplished lifelong learners. Now is a pivotal time for Near North; hundreds of families before us had a vision for the futures of their children and worked tirelessly to make it a reality.
To continue to provide a truly exceptional educational experience, Near North has created a state-of-the-art building on the current playscape to house a space for innovation, creative learning, meeting, and gathering. We will also relocate the urban farm from Wood Street to the roof of the new building. This expansion will allow our students to engage with STEAM learning in new, expansive, and creative ways.
To make this project a reality, Near North launched an ambitious, yet attainable, $6 million campaign that has allowed us to build a place for our children to create, imagine, iterate, explore, and develop skills for a successful future. Your support in this Campaign is the next step to create a truly prepared environment where your child will bring their Montessori curriculum to life by collaborating, exploring, making, and creating. Now is our time to be change makers for our children's future.
Alderman Brian Hopkins joined Near North Montessori as we opened the doors to its second major facility addition in less than 10 years. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony took place on Thursday, November 21st and we welcomed over 200 NNM parents, students, alumni families, faculty, and staff.
The new two-story, 15,000-square-foot building blends the school's Montessori philosophy of education with some of the latest thinking in science, technology, and the arts.
"This truly historical achievement represents the participation by members of every segment of the school community, from current and former parents, to alumni, to staff, to grandparents, all joining together to provide innovative and forward looking improvements for the school's future," said Audrey Perrott, NNM's Head of School.
Together we can reach our goal.

“I am so excited about the new space. It will provide more room and opportunities for our NNM children to add to their already rich and varied experiences as they continue to become the best versions of themselves. Bravo, Near North! Maria Montessori would be proud.”
