3-6 Afterschool

Mon-Fri | 3:30-4:30pm and/or 4:30-5:30pm

Cost: $81 - $107 based on day of week

General Afterschool provides a safe and happy place for students to engage in constructive activities and socialize with peers. This environment draws similarities to the Montessori classroom and children have opportunities to pursue art projects, games and stories, as well as outdoor play when weather and schedule allows. A light, healthy snack is served.

Artists’ Workshop

Mon or Wed | 3:30-4:30pm

Instructor: NNM Art Instructor Sue Rodwan

Cost: $135 (Mon) or $180 (Weds)

Artists' Workshop is a popular staple of Afterschool activities and a lively environment for all artistic expression. Students use paint, fabric, feathers, wood and more to explore their inspired endeavors. Sue provides guidance and skill development, and the young artists lead the way.

Creative Drama

Mon or Wed | 3:30-4:30pm

Instructor: Darcy Coussens

Cost: $146 (Mon) or $195 (Weds)

Ignite your imagination with Darcy! Together we will explore different stories and create our own through drama games, improvisation, and creative movement. Students will learn the basics of storytelling with their bodies and voices while becoming a supportive team. Caution: there may be some wacky characters and silliness along the way!

Little Yogis

Mon | 3:30-4:30pm

Instructor: Rachel Montes

Cost: $146

Little Yogis will focus on basic yoga poses and breath work, along with reading, drawing and singing. Students will build self-confidence while they improve their balance, flexibility and strength in a fun and engaging environment.

Mandarin 3-6

Cost: $166

We are so excited to bring Mandarin to 3-6! At ChinaFriends, our goal is to engage students in actively learning the language and culture of China using age-appropriate topics relevant to their daily life. Practical communication skills are our priority. Our curriculum uses a pragmatic, spiral-up learning approach to optimize retention and develop all communication skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing Chinese. Introductory Ceramics

Under Sue’s guidance, children take exciting first steps towards developing interest and experience with ceramic clay. Students are introduced to a variety of handbuilding methods in an environment of low stress and high fun. New and returning students are welcome.

Little Chefs

Tues or Fri | 3:30-4:30pm

Instructor: NNM Assistant Rachel Montes

Cost: $257 (Tues) or $193 (Fri) [Includes materials costs]

Those who love stirring, whisking and having fun with measurements will love this class! NNM Assistant Rachel Montes will share her passion for cooking and eating with all of our little chefs. Children will put on their mini chef hats and whip up something healthy and tasty every week.

BrainDance

Tues or Fri | 3:30-4:30pm

Instructor: Former NNM Dance Instructor Amanda MacDonald

Cost: $195 (Tues) or $146 (Fri)

Pairing her experience with developmental movement and the Alexander Technique with the methods of celebrated dance educator Anne Green Gilbert, creator of the BrainDance, Amanda provides a class full of music, movement and fun. Students wiggle and giggle, sing and squirm, while having a multi-sensory experience that promotes brain development, academic learning, sensory regulation, social-emotional growth and coordination.

Primary Swim 1 and 2

(Both sessions run concurrently, with instructors targeting the skill level of each participant)

Tues or Fri | 3:30-4:30pm (ages 4+)

Instructor: NNM Aquatics Coordinator Kim Kuehl

Cost: $216 (Tues) or $162 (Fri)

This course is an orientation to water and intended to help children develop good attitudes and safe practices in the pool. Instruction emphasizes comfort, confidence and building skills through play and guided practice. Instructors emphasize safety topics and aquatic fundamentals including water entry/exit, blowing bubbles through mouth and nose, submerging mouth, nose and eyes, retrieving objects, back/front float, front/back glides and swimming with life jackets.

For students who have mastered Primary Swim 1, Primary Swim 2 revisits basic skills through guided practice and promotes increasing independence. Skills covered include water entry/exit, bobbing, retrieving objects, front/back floats, front/back glides, swimming on front and back (alternating and simultaneous arm and leg actions), and changing direction/position and swimming with life jackets.

Be a dancer AND a musician with your feet! In addition to learning the standard tap steps, students will use poetry and storytelling to explore all the sounds a tap shoe can make. This class will hold in-class demonstrations for parents.

Zumba

Combining movement, music and culture, Zumba promotes a fun and healthy lifestyle and introduces students to choreography from Honduras! In Emely’s Zumba class, students will not only develop balance, coordination, memory and leadership, but also cultural awareness, respect, responsibility and teamwork!

Primary Swim 3

Thurs | 3:30-4:30pm (ages 4+)

Instructor: NNM Aquatics Coordinator Kim Kuehl

Cost: $216

Primary Swim 3 builds upon the aquatics fundamentals from Primary Swim 1 and 2 by providing guided practice at more proficient performance levels and at greater distances and times. Skills are performed independently at this level. Participants learn to improve coordination of arm and leg actions. Previous safety topics are discussed and new ones are introduced. Participation requires approval of the Aquatics Coordinator.

Little Kickers

At Super Soccer Stars, it is our goal to teach soccer skills in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Our philosophy is to use soccer to nurture, to build self-confidence, and to develop teamwork in every class. All Super Soccer Stars classes are based on age-specific curricula created by a combination of early childhood, soccer, and behavioral specialists to guarantee that each child is learning and having a blast from the moment the whistle blows. ***Will not meet December 6, 2018 due to Bookfair***
