NNM Alumni

What students begin at NNM leads to a life of focus, service, and limitless achievement. That's why our alumni are our greatest accomplishment.

Near North Montessori has taught me everything I need to know going into high school. They taught me how to advocate for myself, how to be independent, how to problem-solve in uncomfortable situations, and how to be a well-rounded human being by using integrity.- 2020 NNM ALUM

Zach Wang
NNM Class of 2013
Walter Payton College Prep
UCLA
"Montessori had a big influence on me from the beginning, things like giving “coffees” with parents helped me get comfortable talking to adults and taught me how to be respectful and confident in those settings. More broadly, NNM gave me the space to grow into the person I wanted to be instead of being pushed into a strict mold. I took a lot from the Montessori system, but just as important, when I look back on my time there I only have great memories like science fairs, running sandwich shoppe, bucket drumming at March Mayhem, Flex Fridays where we navigated the city on the CTA, all the incredible after school sports programs with Coach Nate, and making friends I still hang out with and call my best friends today."

"Near North Montessori shaped how I see the world and my place within it. It taught me the importance of community, advocacy, care for others, and showed me that small acts of kindness can ripple outward to strengthen the world. My Montessori foundation has set me on a path to success that continues to guide me today. NNM gave me friends who became family and a lifetime of memories."
Spencer Tweedy
NNM Class of 2010
Northside College Prep
Lawrence University
"Today I travel and play drums with musicians like Waxahatchee and my dad, Jeff Tweedy. I love recording and making records—especially with my family. I’ve had the honor of performing on albums by Mavis Staples and Norah Jones. I also occasionally produce music, including a forthcoming album by my brother Sammy (NNM ’14). NNM taught me to look people in the eye—literally and figuratively. At the core of my personality, I’m shaped by the respect that NNM teachers afforded me. They made me feel like a full person even while I had so much to learn, and I'll carry that confidence with me for the rest of my life."
