The safety and health of our students, faculty and staff is our top priority. To that end, after careful deliberation and consideration, NNM will be closed as of Monday, March 16, with online and distance learning beginning as of Tuesday, March 17. We will follow guidance from local health experts when deciding to resume classes at school. We are currently planning to reopen after Spring Break on April 6, although this is subject to change and based on the progression of the virus.

We believe this is the best decision to not only protect our community but also to support the efforts of social distancing as a highly effective safety intervention to fight COVID-19. The rate of increase in cases for this virus is serious and we want to do everything we can to help contain the virus and protect our friends, families and neighbors.

While we know that closing the school will be difficult for many families, we believe that taking this action to help prevent and slow the spread of the virus is in keeping with NNM’s mission and values. This is a time when we need to live out the NNM values by thinking of others, particularly the vulnerable populations, and be a helper. Our children practice this every day in their classrooms, now it is our turn to follow the guidance of the CDC, IDPH and WHO to get through these uncertain times. We are a strong community and we are grateful to you all for your support.
