Welcome to new families and welcome back to returning families! It’s been a joy seeing the children returning a little taller and prouder to be another year older at school! It’s also been a pleasure meeting new children, and watching them explore their new environments!
Hopefully you have all reviewed the Helpful Hints for transitioning your child into his/her respective classroom environment (3-6, TC, P/I). Please refer to these links to make sure your child has the necessary items in his/her locker as well as for lunch and/or naptime.
It was great seeing many parents at the Toddler Orientation last week, and it’s been a pleasure watching your children transition into their “home away from home” this week.
Thank you to the 3-6 parents and teachers who joined us last week for Back to School Night! It is always a great way to kick off the school year and we appreciate your support and enthusiasm! Special thanks to the room parents for helping organize food, drinks and set up/clean up!
All parents/caregivers of the Parent-Infant (P/I) program are encouraged to attend an Orientation meeting this Thursday, September 15th at 3pm. Vinkle’s Friday P/I class begins this week (the 16th) at 8:45am and Nancy’s Thursday P/I class begins next week (the 22nd) at 3pm.
Please take note of the various 0-6 Important Dates for 2016-2017 school year.
Children in 3-6 will go out most days for Recess, so please dress your child accordingly for the weather! Children will go out in light rain, so providing a rain jacket with a hood is strongly encouraged (as well as rain boots for puddle splashing). We strongly discourage sending your child with an umbrella. When winter approaches, please have your child practice putting on their winter gear on their own (snow-pants first, mittens last)! Here is a schedule of how the classes rotate among the different recess spaces: 3-6 Recess 2016-2017. (With changing weather, please be sure the extra clothes in your child’s locker are appropriate for the season as well)!
For parents of Stay-Uppers (or 3rd years), there are several afternoons where your child now participates in a special activity. Every week, your child will attend Group Gym with Eli (aka, Mr. B), where the children refine gross motor skills and build collaborative skills in group games. This is followed by Library time with Maureen, where the children enjoy listening to several books she reads-aloud. Every other week, the 3rd years participate in Farmessori and will walk to our urban farm (on Wood St.) with their lead teacher and Sue Rodwan (art instructor). Once at the farm, they will have lessons with Farmer Joe Phillips to support the seasonal needs through work and maintenance of the crops, chickens, goats! Here are the schedules for both of these special afternoons: Group Gym/Library and Farmessori.
Should you have any questions, concerns, feedback or ideas, I welcome you to contact me!
All my best,
Reena V. Morgan, Primary Director (email@example.com)
