This Monday, October 5th at 8:45am – 10:15am, I will be presenting a workshop, Montessori in the Home: Help Me To Help Myself, for parents and caregivers. I hope you can join me to learn about practical ways to implement aspects of the Montessori philosophy into your home with your child(ren)! Check out this recent article that speaks to this idea of freedom and responsibility: Go Ahead Give Your Toddler a Kitchen Knive. I will presenting this same topic again on Wednesday, October 14th from 6pm – 7:30pm.
On Friday, October 9th, Parent Teacher conferences will be taking place for any parents whose children are NEW to the classroom this year. Teachers are looking forward to meeting with you and share about your child in the classroom environment. Teachers also enjoy learning more from you about your child and family during this time as well. Please refer to this link for your scheduled conference time. Parent-Infant class will remain in session.
Parent SEED will be taking place starting this month, October 19 in the morning and October 21st in the evening. If you are able to commit a little time once a month, to discuss, reflect and navigate dialogue around diversity, you will feel even more empowered as a parent! When challenging questions arise such as, “is that person a man or a woman?” “Why is that boy’s skin so dark?” “Why does my friend have two daddies?” you will feel more prepared having reflected on such topics in this safe, supportive, and informative group! Check out more information on Brian’s (NNM Diversity Director) blog: Diversity.nnms.org
October 29th at 6pm is our NNM Parent Journey. You will have the opportunity to follow one curricular area through the levels to see how the concepts and materials build on each other. This popular event always leaves parents feeling inspired, excited, and delighted that their children are in a Montessori school!
Looking forward to seeing you soon! – Reena
