From May 21-25, students will learn that one person, even very young people, can truly make a difference as they solicit pledges for the Walk-a-Thon and participate in classroom projects to improve the school and surrounding area. This year, Montessori Moves will not only get people walking but also picking up trash, building benches, gardening, baking for our Maintenance crew and reading to younger students.
As the focal point of Montessori Moves, the Walk-a-Thon (May 23) is a fun way for students to give back to the school directly by raising money for the NNM Annual Fund. Although parent contributions throughout the year are integral to the school, our students will take an extra measure of pride knowing that they’re helping to support the technology lab and gyms and studios they use every day.
Students may collect pledges in either or both of the following ways:
- Create an online profile by going to http://montessorimoves.dojiggy.com/ng/. Instructions on how to register goes through the process step by step. Using the online pledge system is a great paper-saving way to reach more friends and family to help you achieve your pledge-drive goal. Please note that if you created an online profile last year you do not need to create a new one this year. Simply sign back into your account and use password nnm1434 to get started.
- Download the pledge sheet
Students should collect pledge contributions at the time the sponsor makes the commitment. Pledges may be made by friends, family, neighbors or anyone interested in supporting Near North Montessori. However, participants may not ask for pledges from NNM faculty or staff.
All pledges must be submitted online or dropped off to the Development office on or before Tuesday, May 22, 2018.
Montessori Moves Walk-A-Thon will take place rain or shine! Participants are encouraged to wear hats, sunscreen and sunglasses if it’s sunny or bring rain gear if it’s rainy. Pets cannot participate.
Thank you so much for your participation! For questions, contact Jeanne Douglass at jdouglass[at]nnms.org.
