Programs Overview

We recognize that children progress at their own rate and our programs are designed to accomodate all students. Near North classes are based on multiple-year age groupings.

Pre-School 3 - 6 years
Even our youngest pupil's activity is dignified by the word "work". Learning is a joyous naturalexperience for children. The environment need only offer the opportunity to learn. We provide the sensory materials in each classroom to respond to curiosity and invite discovery.

Lower Elementary 6 - 9 years
While our classrooms and materials are highly structured, learning is not. Students progress at their own pace in a non-competitive atmosphere. Our skilled Montessori-trained teachers guide their students through a balance of individual instruction, small group lessons and unstructured time. In this way your child learns self-discipline and initiative as well as competence.

Upper Elementary 9 - 12 years
Because of their three year association with each child, Montessori teachers have relationships with students as individuals, supplying each with new and more demanding projects each student's progress is assessed.

Junior High 12 - 14 years
An essential element throughout our curriculum is cultural awareness and social responsibility. In addition to a rigorous academic program, junior high students further extend their studies beyond the classroom and into the community.
