Classrooms

'There is in the soul of a child an impenetrable secret that is gradually revealed as it develops.'- Maria Montessori

Entering a Montessori classroom is entering a world specially prepared for the comfort and stimulation of the child. It is a carefully designed environment where children of mixed ages work together or individually with multi-sensory materials that invite them to touch, to think, to experience.

'No one can be free unless he is independent: therefore, the first, active manifestations of the child's individual liberty must be so guided that through this activity he may arrive at independence.' - Maria Montessori

Children move freely about, choose an activity, work on it until a sense of accomplishment has been achieved, then put materials back in place before choosing another activity. The atmosphere is one of ordered activity. With the freedom to choose, children develop self-confidence, self-discipline, and self-mastery.
