I wanted to share a video and a few articles that I’ve really appreciated. The below video is one that I’ve shared in the past, but it’s worth re-posting because it’s so well done (only 5 minutes long) and gives a beautiful glimpse into the day of a child in a 3-6 Montessori classroom.
According to Harvard Psychologists, Parents Who Raise “Good” Kids Do These 5 Things: Great reminders here (very much aligned with Montessori values)! I really liked the “Practically Speaking” guidance under each of the 5 things mentioned.
Parenting Your Strong Willed Child: I found the 11 Tips to be helpful reminders as well–we’ve all been there: sometimes feeling at a loss when our little one is having a meltdown; or wishing we hadn’t gotten caught up in a power struggle. I especially appreciated the reminder that having a child with a strong-will can be a really positive trait!
Kids Should Play Outside 3(!) Hours A Day…This article’s title first made me think, “but I work full time and we live in the city!” However the article, written by an Occupational Therapist, gives great reminders about the importance of free play and the great benefits for children to have sensorial experiences outdoors (such as running around barefoot on the grass)!
Thanks for giving the video and articles your time, I hope you find them as helpful as I did!
